Dear Class of 2022 and Families at the Academy of Arts and Academics!
Congratulations, you are on the home stretch! We have been given the green light to schedule A3’s Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony. Please keep in mind that the following information speaks to the best of our knowledge at this time. Schools are mandated to follow orders from the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority, and COVID protocols have changed rapidly at times. That said, we are aiming for a traditional graduation experience for our seniors and families. We are planning to have a ceremony on June 9th at 6:30 PM in the Springfield High School auditorium.
We will send out a Senior Survey in the weeks ahead: Your student will receive an email with the Senior Survey via their SPS email account. It is essential that each senior take the time to complete the survey, which will be due Friday, March 11th. They can access the survey with the link they will be sent via their SPS email and they must log-in using their Springfield Public Schools email and password in order to complete the survey. Students will have input via the survey regarding: who they nominate to be senior speaker, name reader and keynote speaker, who they walk with at graduation, how many tickets are being requested (tickets will be limited and we will follow the guidance from the state and district), if those they invite to attend have accessibility needs, what colleges they want their final transcripts sent to, what scholarships they have been awarded, and other important information.
Rehearsal and Ceremony, June 9, 2022, 4:30-7:30 pm:
- Rehearsal will be from 4:30-5:30. This rehearsal is mandatory, it is NOT optional. Please arrive before 4:30 pm with your regalia for rehearsal. We will provide refreshments between rehearsal and graduation.
- The graduation ceremony will commence at 6:30 pm in the Springfield High School Auditorium.
Admission to the Graduation Ceremony:
Students will request the amount of tickets they would like in the Senior Survey (there will be a limited number of seats/tickets per senior). Admission to graduation is with a ticket only. Tickets will be distributed on Distribute Day. They will pick up their graduation regalia (cap/gown/tassel) at this time as well. Students will be notified as we get closer to the actual date, as to how many people they may bring. We will be following the district and state guidelines.
Family Ceremony Participation:
At this time we are unable to anticipate the district guidelines for the number of guests allowed, we will keep you posted as we get closer to the date.
Senior Accounts:
We have advised our Seniors that once they graduate from A3, they will no longer have access to their SPS Email and Google accounts. It would be wise for students to create a new, professional email address for themselves as well as archive or copy anything on their school account they want to access after graduation.
Ceremony Eligibility:
Final determination regarding who is eligible to walk in the graduation ceremony will be made Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00AM. ALL graduation requirements must be complete at this time for a student to participate in the ceremony and all graduates must wear the cap/gown/tassel.
Cap/Gown/Tassel:
Miners Graduate Services, located at 1885 River Rd, Eugene, OR 97404 – Phone: (541) 689-4588 (https://www.minersgrad.com/). Is the company we will use to order cap/gown/tassel and other graduation items. You can place an order with Miners Graduate Services that includes items other than the cap/gown/tassel. Miners will be on campus with handouts and order forms in the Spring and we will have more info to come.
Graduation Items to Distribute:
We will distribute Cap, Gown, Tassel and Tickets for the Class of 2022 the week of Graduation at A3, Time: TBA.
Accessibility:
Among other things, students can notify us via this survey if anyone from their family who plans to attend graduation has accessibility needs. The Springfield High School Auditorium where we will hold the ceremony has very limited seating options for folks who use wheelchairs or walkers. We want to touch base with families who need any accommodations of any type. We want to make sure we do everything we can to make graduation an enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance. Transcripts – Final Senior Transcript Request
Students who fill out the senior survey and requested to have their transcripts sent away, will have their transcripts sent by Krista Cummings, our Registrar. As usual, final transcripts will be processed in mid to late-June after the end of the semester, once all our grades are entered. Additional questions about transcripts can be sent to Krista at krista.cummings@springfield.k12.or.us
